Our Journey

Our Ship, “The Star Flyer”

The Star Flyer, twin sister to Star Clipper, is a true Clipper Ship reflecting her proud heritage in every inch of the polished brass and gleaming charm. Star Flyer is a modern small ship in every way, created for adventure-loving passengers looking for the tradition and romance of the legendary era of sailing ships but with the comforts and amenities of the present day. Star Flyer is 379 feet long and can carry 166 guests in pampered comfort, over 36,000 square feet of sails. Sixteen sails billowing in the wind.

NAUTICAL HERITAGE

This ship offers spacious accommodations and expansive teak decks with ample space for walking and relaxation. In fact, you’ll find that this ship offers more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships. The decor of StarF lyer is reminiscent of the grand age of sail with a modern touch. Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships appeal to the eye, while polished decks and gleaming mahogany rails are richly reminiscent of Star Flyers’ proud nautical heritage.

MODERN AMENITIES

Star Flyer features open-seating dining in an elegantly appointed dining room, delightful indoor and outdoor Tropical and Piano bars, and an Edwardian-style library where a Belle Époque fireplace glows with a warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Flyers’ hospitable officers and crew.

CLEAN ENERGY

Star Flyer uses very pure, high-quality low Sulphur gas oil for which the company was awarded the International Air Pollution Prevention Certificate. Star Flyer was the first ship in the world to receive the award.

Itinerary

*subject to change based on weather, ocean conditions, and captain’s judgement

Day 1:  Saturday, August 17, 2024 – Civitavecchia (port of rome)

Welcome and All Aboaaaaard!!! We will have a welcome meeting in the early evening and dinner as a group.  The night will continue with the ship’s entertainment options or get comfortable and explore the ship.

Day 2:  Sunday, August 18, 2024 – Day At Sea

Enjoy the ships amenities, relax on deck, work on your tan, play games and socialize.  The day is yours to enjoy onboard.

Each Star Clippers ship offers a traditional and elegant way to see the world. Feel the wind fill the sails and gently carry you from one gorgeous destination to the next. During your time on board, you can choose to relax on a sun lounger or cool off in one of the pools on the top deck, while more adventurous passengers may enjoy the opportunity to climb the rigging or even have a go at steering the ship. Alternatively, you can wander the interior areas of the ship and discover relaxing lounges, a revitalising spa (Royal Clipper only) and a peaceful library.

Day 3:  Monday, August 19, 2024 – Lipari, Aeolian Islands, Italy

Italy’s seven volcanic Aeolian Islands, just off the north coast of Sicily, are obviously a place favored by the Gods. In Lipari, climb narrow streets to the medieval castello and enjoy a secluded beach. As Royal Clipper sails past Isola Strómboli, watch the sky for frequent volcanic fireworks.

Day 4:  Tuesday, August 20, 2024 – Messina, Sicily

Messina was a major transport hub for centuries and remains a gateway to the island of Sicily. Messina is home to one of Sicily’s finest cathedrals which has the largest and most complex mechanical and astronomical clock of the world. Make sure you try the lemon granita (shaved ice), or the famous mezza con panna al caffè, a half glass of coffee-flavoured granita and cream.

Day 5:  Wednesday, August 21, 2024 – Amalfi, Italy

During the Middle Ages, Amalfi was a powerful republic of 70,000 people, rivalling nearby Ravello. For a sense of Amalfi’s medieval glory, wander through the grand Duomo, containing the remains of St. Andrew. In the evening we visit nearby Positano, said to be the most beautiful town in the Mediterranean.

Day 6:  Thursday, August 22, 2024 – Sorento, Italy

Sorrento, whose city walls rise straight out of the sea, is located on the lovely Amalfi Coast and overlooks the Bay of Naples. Optional excursions might include taking a trip back in history to Pompeii, where the ashen remains of ancient Romans lie frozen in time.

Day 7:  Friday, August 23, 2024 – Ponza, Pontine Islands, Italy

The pastel houses of Ponza Town rise in neat terraced rows from the busy harbour where sleekly groomed yachts and ramshackle fishing boats moor side by side. Happily, there are few tourists here, so it’s a delight to wander through the unspoiled town.

Day 8:  Saturday, August 24, 2024 – Disembark, Civitavecchia (port of rome) – Option to add on and explore Rome

For some, this will be the end of the journey.  We will disembark the ship and transport guests to the airport.

For any who are interested in extending their adventure, we will move to a local hotel and prepare for an extra day of exploring the historical and modern beauty of Rome, Italy.

*Itinerary and additional cost TBD.

Visit St. Peter’s, with its breathtaking Sistine Chapel, newly restored to its former glory- the Spanish Steps, where all Rome passes by- the Colosseum, where gladiators fought to the death, and the Pantheon, considered to be the most perfect architectural statement of the ages.

Come experience the beautiful coast of Italy and Sicily.
